If so, then you must visit the Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG). Did you know that their permanent collections consist of over 4000 works of art. And even more impressive is the fact that the RMG holds Canada’s largest collection of works by Painters Eleven, and at least eleven of these works are always on display.
In addition to the permanent collections, the RMG also showcases a collection that comprises nearly 3,000 historical photographs of Oshawa and Durham Region which was donated by the late Thomas Bouckley, an archivist of Oshawa. And let’s not forget the RMG Library which is the largest art library in Durham Region devoted to fine art and the history of visual arts.
Each of these collections form a part of the story of Canadian modern and contemporary art. The RMG is a must see for any art aficionado. You can find the gallery in the Oshawa Civic Centre which is located between City Hall and the McLaughlin Public Library.
